LIVARA 0.9.16 / WEB + ANDROID

Everythinginstalled.

Secure messenger features: direct and group E2EE, channels, group video, screen sharing and offline-first delivery.

A feature list is only interesting if the features hold up on a train with one bar of signal. These are written as what happens, not as what would be nice to imply.

Replies, reactions, edits, spoilers

Voice notes and round video

Hold to record, release to send, slide away to cancel, lock it when the thought turns out longer than expected. Or switch to a circular video note and stop typing entirely.

Uploads that tell you the truth

Real progress, real cancel, real retry, and an account-scoped cache that is not quietly shared with whoever used this browser before you.

Stickers, gifts, custom animated items

Emoji, stickers, gifts and a reusable custom library covering static and animated formats. Yes, including the cursed ones you made at 3 a.m.

Direct or group, camera or screen

Start on voice, add video, bring up to five other people into an Android group room, or share the screen. Adaptive capture and bitrate limits protect weaker phones and links.

Livara AI here, AI Pro when you choose

Write, continue, rewrite, summarize, classify and turn messages into reviewed actions. Livara AI stays on the Android device; admin-selected accounts may explicitly switch to Livara AI Pro.

A voice session that stays with the task

Send, call, search, navigate, save notes, ask about Livara or ask a general question. After each turn the assistant remains open and listens again, while consequential actions still require confirmation.

02 — VOICE, VIDEO AND CALLS
Say it out loud

Hold, release, sent.

Hold to record, release to send, slide away to cancel, lock it when the thought turns out longer than planned. Round video notes catch the moment instead of describing it, and the camera flips mid-recording.

In a protected chat, every voice note and video message is encrypted on your device before a single byte leaves it — the recording and the caption both.

The tunnel

What happens in the tunnel

Most messengers handle a dropped connection by lying to you for a few seconds and hoping you do not look down. Here is the sequence Livara runs instead.

outbox.sequenceone message · one id

Stage it locally

The bubble appears immediately with a stable operation ID attached. It is marked as yours — not as delivered, because it is not.

Queue it under that same ID

Retries reuse the ID, so a flaky signal cannot turn one message into three. Protected text is queued already sealed; content outside E2EE keeps its explicit state.

Reconcile against the server

The acknowledgement replaces the optimistic bubble, and the durable cursor only moves once the snapshot agrees.

04 — APPEARANCE
Yours, down to the corner of a bubble

A messenger that matches your midnight.

Five presets including a true-black AMOLED, plus accent colours, wallpapers, typography, bubble shape, density, and a blur you can switch off entirely on a phone that has had enough. Try them here — the preview is driven by the same custom properties the app uses.

Theme studio

Pick one. Nothing is saved, nothing is sent — this preview is a handful of CSS variables changing in your own browser.

More than words.

05 — LIVARA AI
On the handset

An assistant that lives in your pocket, not in a data centre.

Draft the hard message. Continue the thought. Summarise yesterday’s two hundred unread. Turn “coffee tuesday, 5pm” into a proposed reminder — and nothing at all is saved until you have read it and confirmed it.

The voice assistant keeps its session open across turns: send, call, search, navigate, take a note, ask a general question or ask about Livara itself. Anything that affects another person still asks first. Livara AI Pro stays opt-in, admin-granted, permissioned per chat, and explicit about its path — device, Livara, Google.

06 — TWO CLIENTS
One account

The same app, twice

The web client runs in any current browser with nothing to install. The Android client is a Flutter build, not a website in a frame — same conversations, same durable sync stream, plus an offline cache and an outbox that carries on working when the signal does not.

  • One authoritative timeline, with both clients reading from it
  • Compatible media metadata, so expressions look the same on both
  • The same words for the same guarantees in both interfaces
  • The same refusal to send a direct message it cannot seal
  • LGS1 sender-key protection for text in compatible groups
  • The same Livara AI Pro name and model choice everywhere
